The school counselor is part of Fort Bend’s Student Support Services staff which functions primarily to help facilitate positive intervention as well as prevention efforts in the schools, assisting school personnel and parents in addressing the academic, social, and emotional concerns of students. Sugar Mill counselor, Kelly Fox, is available to provide developmental guidance, individual or group counseling, parent conferences, and consultation and assessment. In addition, Mrs. Fox may manage the initial stages of the referral process to the campus Instruction/Intervention Support Team (IST). Mrs. Fox is responsible for many functions in the building, including vocational guidance, teacher support, crisis management, standardized assessments, etc. The 2009-2010 school year will be Mrs. Fox’s first year at Sugar Mill Elementary. She has 22 years of experience in education which include teaching third grade, second grade, kindergarten, elementary and middle school art, as well as counseling at the middle school level. Ms. Fox is married with one daughter who is currently a student at Sam Houston State Universtiy studying to be a high school History teacher! Ms. Fox enjoys spending time with her family as well as her two dogs Frankie and Allie, and her cat Beamer! Be sure to check the links for announcements and other important information!
