Dear Parents, Things are moving along very smoothly with our 938 students! Thanks to you all for following our Traffic Plan during arrival and dismissal times. With your help, our dismissal is accomplished in less than 10 minutes! Mark your calendars now! Our Gator Palooza is scheduled for December 6th. This fun-filled family day requires a significant number of volunteers, so those of you who typically work and are unable to volunteer during the week – here’s your opportunity to “give back” to the Sienna Crossing community. Look further in this issue to find out which volunteer activities are available. Remember that you send a powerful message to your child by volunteering (in any capacity) at school. As I’ve communicated previously, the Fort Bend ISD is taking a more strict position with regard to attendance and truancy. Please remember • When a student is absent a note must be turned in within two days of his/her return explaining the reason for the absence, otherwise the absence is coded as “unexcused.” • Trips and family vacations are unexcused absences. • Three unexcused absences within a 4 week period will result in a truancy citation being issued by the Fort Bend ISD Police Department. If you haven’t checked out our PTO’s website, I encourage you to do so! You’ll discover an abundance of information about Sienna Crossing, volunteer opportunities, upcoming events, etc. Log onto www.scepto.com and be sure to bookmark this page for future reference. Many thanks to Dawn Simonsen, our webmaster! As you’ve heard me mention several times, research has proven that the one overwhelming determinant in a student’s success is parental involvement! Thank you for checking those agendas, conferencing with the teachers, reading with the children, encouraging participation in sports activities – and, for limiting television watching. Parenting is an awesome responsibility – as is teaching. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to share in the lives of these terrific kids! As always, we appreciate your support! Linda Ruckman
