Greetings Parents! Our wonderful librarian here at Ridgemont Elementary wants you to welcome all parents to visit the library. The library is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Parents may check out books under their child’s name. Books are due back to the library every two weeks.
We participate in two reading clubs at Ridgemont: Texas Bluebonnet voting and the Texas Readers’ Club. In the Bluebonnet program, students must read at least 5 out of the 20 books nominated in order to vote on their favorite book. Students must read at least 5 of the titles in order to attend the Bluebonnet Voting Party, which will be held in the library in January (a date has not yet been set).
The Texas Readers Club is open to Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders. Students must read at least 15 books, following the criteria of the club, to receive a certificate in May. The more books students read the more recognition they earn. Students that reads the most amount of books will receive a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophy.
The good news is that the books your child reads for the Bluebonnet program can also be used for the Texas Readers Club. Please help us to make both reading programs successful this year.
The library will have it’s fall book fair hosted by Scholastic, October 9th – 16th. The theme this year is “A Reading Fiesta.” We are having a lot of activities for that week, so please feel free to join in on all the fun. Letters will be sent home the week before the fair to inform you of our schedule. Come out and encourage reading!
