Welcome to ELA 7

In the GT Academy, 7th Grade ELA is a compacted course that emphasizes writing, language study, problem solving, and advanced reading and research. Using a conceptually based interdisciplinary curriculum, students produce high level critical and creative products and performances. Students refine and master previously learned reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and representing skills in increasingly complex presentations, reading selections (classic, contemporary, and informational), and written compositions. Seventh grade students critically analyze and evaluate a variety of speakers and messages to determine validity, reliability, and delivery. Students select and use different forms of writing, varied sentence structure, and more complex verb tense, grammar, and usage to improve their writing. Students produce error-free compositions on a regular basis. Students draw data from multiple sources for use in research and projects.
