Welcome to Kindergarten

Welcome to kindergarten at QVE! We want each child to be excited about learning. This year your child will be immersed in a balanced literacy program that includes: phonemic awareness, oral language development, print concepts, read-alouds, shared and guided reading, interactive writing, and writer’s workshop. In math, your child will use a vast amount of manipulatives to focus on developing whole-number concepts, using patterns, sorting to explore number, data, and shape, and developing numerical fluency. Our hands-on curriculum also incorporates science, health, social studies, physical education, music, art, and computer technology. We are looking forward to a great year in kindergarten.
