Welcome to Second Grade

Welcome to 2nd grade! We are so happy to have you all this year and can’t wait to get started on our new learning adventure! As second grade students you will be exploring many new and exciting subjects. We will take a closer look at organisms and will even have some live subjects to study. That’s right, they will be alive! We will make some terrariums for our class millipedes and pill bugs, and we will put together some cool aquariums for our guppies! Later this year we will study the different types of weather and become mini meteorologists! We really love math and will be working hard on our basic addition and subtraction facts so that when it comes time to tackle multiplication and division we will be ready. Reading and writing is an absolute favorite. We will be filling up our reading comprehension toolboxes with tons of helpful strategies that will make reading so much fun. We will even have a Literacy Café Menu to order off of! The writing process will be a breeze this year because in 2nd grade we work very diligently on our writing pieces. Our pencil supply even runs out before the year is over because of all the awesome writing we accomplish! Get ready for a year full of enthusiasm and hard work!
