Welcome to Kindergarten

Kindergarten will be working on the following skills the 6th 6 weeks:
 
• Word Families
• Word Wall Words (see below for the list)
• Beginning, Middle, Ending of stories
• Story Maps (Character, Setting, Problem & Solution)
• Independent Reading
• Writing the beginning, middle, and ending sounds of words in original stories
• Subtraction and review of all previous math skills
• Problem Solving
• Addition/Subtraction Math Facts
• Farm, Plants, and Ocean
• Map Skills
 

 
Important Dates and Reminders
 
• Thursday, April 20th – CiCi’s Pizza Night from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. The location is Highway 6 & Bellaire. 10% of sales come back to the school to support our students.
• Friday, April 21st – Field trip to the Oil Ranch – Bring a sack lunch and 2 juice boxes. Label everything with names and put lunch and juice in a zip lock baggie.
• Monday, April 24th – No school – This is a staff development day.
• Wednesday, April 26th – McTeacher’s Night at McDonalds – From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the McDonalds on the corner of Highway 6 and Bissonnet, MGE teachers will be working and helping to serve you your food. 20% of the sales come back to the MGE PTA to help fund field trips and a new security system. Come out and support your school!
• Friday, April 28th – Sock Hop – 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria
• Thursday, May 11th – PTA meeting at 6:30 in the cafeteria. This is a date change from May 4th. Please note the new date.
• Friday, May 19th – Field Day. Watch the Tuesday folder for more information.
• Wednesday, May 24th – 9:00 a.m. – Kindergarten Program in the cafeteria. Students need to arrive at the normal time of 8:00 a.m. Parents, come early to get a good seat. Bring your cameras.
• Thursday, May 25th – Early dismissal at 10:45 a.m. This is the last day of school.
