Lakeview History

With the arrival of several new families to Sugar Land in the early 1900's, it became apparent that the two-room school house needed expanding. Mr. M. Wood created a design for a semi-circular campus with cottage style grade level buildings in 1917. The pivotal point in this design was the auditorium, which has since been named a Texas historical site. It has recently received interior renovation to showcase its original classic style. It has served as a social center for the Sugar Land community as well as a meeting place for the school children. The Lakeview campus has served as a high school, junior high school, and an elementary. We treasure this historical legacy and strive to preserve it for future generations.

Message from the Principal

Welcome to Lakeview Elementary! Situated in the heart of "old" Sugar Land, Lakeview is a TEA Recognized School and home of the Vikings. Lakeview has a long and proud history of educating the children of Sugar Land. For the past eighty-plus years, Lakeview has set high standards for the children who pass through its doors, and for the past eight decades the dedication of the school's staff and parents has enabled our students to reach and exceed those standards. In educating the whole child, we are constantly striving to promote both character and academic achievement. A strong feeling of community exists at Lakeview among our students, teachers, parents, and business friends.

The Lakeview Pledge

Today I will do more than I have to do. I will treat others the way I want to be treated; and I will try to become a better person.
