Second Nine Weeks

ELA
Read orally from familiar text with fluency
(accuracy, expression, appropriate phrasing, and attention to punctuation)
Ask and answer questions about stories
Write in different forms for different purposes such as lists to record and stories to entertain
Gain increasing control of grammar and complete sentences, including question marks
Use word and letter spacing to make messages readable
Write with more proficient spelling of regularly spelled patterns such as consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) such as hop, and consonant-vowel-consonant-silent e (CVCe) such as hope
Learn and apply common letter-sound correspondences including bl, st, tr
Use structural cues to recognize words and inflections such as –s, -es, -ed, -ing
 
Math
Combine two dimensional geometric figures to make new geometric figures, example two squares make a rectangle
Identify three dimensional geometric figures; including spheres, rectangular prisms, and cones
Use patterns to develop strategies to solve basic addition and subtraction problems
Identify patterns in related addition and subtraction sentences;
like fact families (3+2=5, 2+3=5, 5-3=2, 5-2=3) for sums to 18
Read time to the hour and half-hour on analog and digital clocks
Compare and order two or more concrete objects according to length (from longest to shortest)
Organize data to construct picture graphs and answer questions using the information
