Welcome to Physical Education/Health

Foundations of Personal Fitness
1/2 unit of High School Credit
(1 semester)
Eighth grade students may earn one-half high school physical education academic credit by enrolling in and successfully completing Foundations of Personal Education, a required course for graduation from high school for those not using substitution courses (athletics, band, ROTC, etc) in high school. This course counts as high school academic credit and high school grade points. The basic purpose for this course is to motivate students to strive for lifetime personal fitness with an emphasis on the health-related components of physical fitness. The knowledge and skills taught in this course include teaching students about the process of becoming fit as well as achieving some degree of fitness within the class. Students will design their own personal fitness program. Students not enrolled in Foundations of Personal Fitness will be enrolled in 2 semesters of 8th grade Physical Education.

Health
This course is designed to help students develop healthy life skills, understand
patterns of growth and development,
determine effects of drug abuse and diseases, and develop decision-making, and peer
resistance skills.
 
Physical Education (7th)
The middle school physical education program offers a variety of activities to enhance the physical and social development of each student. The activities include physical fitness, with aerobics, and testing; team sports; and individual, dual and lifetime activities. In order to participate in organized athletics such as football, volleyball, basketball or track, the UIL requires students to have a physical examination each year.
 
Physical Education 8th
(1 semester or 1 year)
This middle school physical education
course offers a variety of activities to enhance the physical and social development of each student. The activities include physical fitness; aerobics; team sports; and individual, dual, and lifetime activities; and a two week program emphasizing self-esteem, respect for others, and making wise decisions in the area of growth and development of adolescents.
* In order to participate in organized athletics such as football, volleyball, basketball. track, or tennis, the UIL requires students to have a physical examination each year.
 
Physical Education/Health
The middle school physical education program offers a variety of activities to enhance the physical and social development of each student. The activities include physical fitness, aerobics, team sports, and individual, dual and lifetime activities. In the six week’s health course, students learn about growing and changing, making healthy choices and decisions, environmental safety, and physical fitness.
