Welcome to Kindergarten

We are proud to be your child’s first experience in school!
 
Please make note of the following information:
 
• School begins promptly at 8:00 am.
• Check and empty your child’s folder daily.
• Each Tuesday is letter phonics homework. In addition to practicing correct letter formation, your child should practice these sight words. Please return Wednesday.
• On alternate Tuesdays, the students will also have poem homework in their special poetry folder. The new poem will be on the front of the page, and homework on the back. Return completed assignments on Wednesday.
• Thursday is Math homework night. Please return on Friday.
• Lunch is 10:15-10:45, and recess is 10:45-11:15. Snack is in the afternoon between 12:45-2:00, as each class time varies. Check the monthly calendar each teacher sends home to be sure your child doesn’t miss his privilege as Snack Helper.
• The One Hour Reading Log encourages you and your child to spend at least 60 minutes each week together reading. Log the titles, minutes, and dates and turn in folders on Mondays.
• Outclass time is 8:50-9:40, and the children must have tennis shoes on their PE days to participate. We have a three day rotation with Library, PE and Music, so check your child's class for the schedule.
• Please be aware that what your child wears to school needs to be child-friendly; complicated buttons, straps, belts, bodysuits and high heels are not appropriate for Kindergarten. Also be sure to label EVERY jacket, hat, and accessory sent to school.
