Science lab is a wonderful addition to the outclass schedule for all students K-5th grades. The purpose of science lab is to enhance the grade level science curriculum with hands on activities and create a love of science. Most activities will follow the inquiry method of investigation where students develop skills in creating and implementing their own science investigations.
Most young students think of science in terms of what they have seen on cartoons and TV shows! They come to science lab expecting to "blow something up" or "cut something open"! As a lab teacher, I strive to present a more realistic view of science which stresses safety first. After all, real scientists don't just get a black face and scorched hair from explosions and then walk away!
Once realistic views and safety is addressed, students will participate in many activities that are fun and magical while learning science concepts. My goal is to make scientists of each student and spread my love of science to all.
