Welcome to Life Skills Class

Courses included in this program are:
 
Functional Science
The purpose of the course is to increase life skill students' awareness of the physical and life sciences around them in their day-to-day living.
 
Functional Literacy
Functional Literacy is a course designed to teach Life Skills students the Language Arts objectives. These objectives are aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills goals for students functioning cognitively in the pre-kindergarten through second grade level within a secondary school setting.
 
Functional Vocational Skills
The purpose of the course is to offer life skill students educational training and opportunities to perform real work in a variety of environments. The goal is to prepare the student for competitive or supported employment upon graduation from high school.
 
Functional Math
Functional Math is a class designed to specifically meet the needs of Life Skills students. It introduces the students to basic math skills such as numeration, time, money, and measurement. It is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills objectives for students cognitively functioning in the pre-kindergarten through second grade level within a secondary school setting.

Functional Social Studies
The purpose of the course is to teach meaningful and functional social skills necessary for life skills students to develop independence in society.
