Welcome to Speech and Drama
INTRODUCTION TO SPEECH 6TH GRADE Students are introduced to a variety of speaking situations. Students give informative and demonstrative speeches, tell stories, conduct interviews, produce pantomimes, study oral interpretation, and participate in the production of plays. SPEECH I 7TH and 8TH GRADE This course introduces students to a variety of speaking situations. Students give informative and demonstrative speeches, tell stories, conduct interviews, produce pantomimes, study oral interpretation and participate in the production of plays. SPEECH II 7TH and 8TH GRADE This course introduces students to a variety of speaking situations, story telling, parliamentary procedure, debate, oral interpretation, and acting. Students participate in one act plays, duet acting scenes, and radio / TV productions, and have the opportunity to participate in the Fine Arts Festival and the Middle School Speech Festival. THEATRE ARTS 8TH GRADE Students engage in activities which develop expressive use of the body and voice, acting concepts and skills, skills in puppetry. Reader's Theater and play production, and appreciation of the theater as an art form.
