My name is Valerie Mixon and I am the Math Instructional Specialist for Hodges Bend Middle School. My job is to assist teachers with lesson ideas, activities, and create common formative assessments for all three grade levels. My job also gives me the opportunity to conduct pullouts and organize tutorial programs for at-risk students.
My experience in education includes 15 years in teaching sixth grade math and as serving as math specialist at HBMS for the last two years. I also have organized and facilitated 6th, 7th, and 8th grade tutorials, and the TAKS Academy for 8th grade during June 2008.

I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I recently received my Master's Degree from Unversity of Houston in Curriculum and Development in Mathematics.
 
I am the proud mother of two elementary age children who keep me very busy when I am not at work.
 
I am willing to assist parents and teachers in any way I can.
