Edgar Glover, Jr. Elementary School got its name from an African-American man named Edgar Glover, Jr. who was an outstanding principal at Willowridge High School. Mr. Glover died of cancer in 1993. Glover Elementary was built in 1993 and opened in 1994 on August 14, by Mrs. Dorland Norris as Principal. Soon after, the Assistant Principal was named, Ms. Jacqueline Smith. Since Glover has opened many accomplishments have been met. Glover proudly earned a Texas Education Agency (TEA) status of "Recognized" for high TAAS test scores in its first academic year. By its fourth year, Glover had earned an "Exemplary" rating from the TEA! Without a doubt, the staff of Glover is on a mission to be one of the premier elementary schools in southeast Texas!
