Zap Program
|

Starting January 22nd, we are implementing a new program called “Zeroes Aren’t Permitted” (ZAP). This program gives students multiple opportunities for success. Students will be required to complete all assignments. If they do not make up the missing assignment with their teacher (Level I), then they will stay after school on Tuesday or Thursday (Level II) from 4:00 to 5:00 to complete the missing assignment. Parents will receive a written notification and bus transportation will be provided for students who are bus eligible. When staying for ZAP after school, the maximum grade a student can earn is 50. Level I ZAP: Handled by the teacher 6th grade 7th grade 8th grade 1 day late 80 75 70 2 days late 70 65 60 Level II ZAP: -Stay after school from 4:00-5:00 to complete the missing assignment on Tuesday or Thursday. -If the student is assigned ZAP on Tuesday or Thursday afternoon and do the work the night before they can return it to the attendance office by 8:40 a.m. the morning of the ZAP day and be excused from ZAP. -Bus transportation will be provided for bus eligible students. -If student completes work before 5:00, he/she will remain in ZAP until 5:00. -Parents will receive written notification. -Highest possible grade will be 50.

FCMS School Clubs 2007-2008

Please see what clubs are offered at FCMS this year! It is fun and a great way to meet new friends and learn something new. Clubs for FCMS 2007-2008 *ShowKatz - Auditioned Group Meets every Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 PM in the Choir Room. Sponsor- Ms. Phyllis Petri *Fellowship of Christian Students- Meets every Wednesday from 4:00- 5:00 PM in Room B416. No sign up necessary, just show up! Sponsor- Mrs. Brenda Spears *Anime Club- Will meet approximately 2 times a month on Wednesdays. Meeting schedule will be handed out at the first meeting. 1st meeting date is Wed. Oct. 3rd from 4:00-5:00 PM. Sponsor- Mrs. Elizabeth Adams. Students must come by Mrs. Adam's room (B427) and pick up a Parent Consent form to participate. Group size is limited to 30 participants. Parent Consent form must be turned in before then. The first 30 handed in will be in the class. *National Junior Honor Society- Sponsors Mrs. Sally Berlocher and Mr. Ray Ybarra. Meets Wednesday from 4:00-4:45 PM in the library. Members: Only those in the 8th grade that were inducted last Spring. Grade requirement to join. President - Gabby Lee Vice President- Angela Chin Secretary- Rohini Tashima Treasurer- Kevin Pham Reporter/Publicity- Arnet Tuazon Historian-Anne Shen *Student Council- Sponsor Ms. Christine Pointer Meets 1st and 3rd Friday each month (will be a few exceptions) in room A112 (Speech Room) from 8:00-8:45 AM. Must be elected and nominated by grade level peers once a year (September) *TMSCA and Mathcounts-Sponsor Mr. Jeff Boyd 6:30-8:30 PM at First Colony Middle School. Schedule handed out during meeting. *Art Club-Sponsor Mrs. Sherrie Loxtercamp Art club will meet once a week starting Thursday, Oct. 4th for 7th/8th graders from 4:00-5:00 PM and 6th graders will meet Tuesday, Oct. 9th from 4:00-5:00 PM in Room A310. If a student is unable to meet on that day, they may interchange the days. There is a $10 fee that covers all the art supplies used and some refreshments. This year we will be creating some seasonal crafts projects, tile mosaics, personalized painted bulletin boards, wall and window mural and other "artsy" endeavors! Any FCMS student is invited to become a member, you do not need to be taking an art class to attend. *Book Club- Sponsors Mrs. Carrie Wilhelm, Mrs. Pam Glynn and Mrs. Debbie Dougharty Meets every 3rd week (usually on Wednesday but we try to accomodate after school schedules so are flexible) 4:00 - 4:30 Just show up and read some great books! (Further clubs will be added as information is received)

Due Dates for Major Tests & Projects

ELA, Spanish, and Science will give tests and have major projects due on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Math and Social Studies will give tests and have major projects due on Wednesdays and Fridays. Electives and PE (except for band and Math Counts) will give tests and have major projects due on Mondays.
