|
First Colony Middle School, is located in Sugar Land, Texas, 20 miles southwest of Houston. in the heart of the First Colony development. Opened in 1985 with a population of 500 students, today we have an enrollment of 1200. Our international student population, representing some 15 foreign languages, reflects the ethnic background of our community. Since 1995, First Colony has been a Texas Exemplary School and has served as a Texas Mentor Campus. In 2000 we were named a National Blue Ribbon school. While our boundaries and our population have changed dramatically, one thing that has not wavered is our endeavor to maintain high expectations and to emphasize strong character among all associated with our school. Our students know that they are the leaders of tomorrow, and they expect a curriculum that will train them for their future positions. We believe we provide beyond what they need, and we continually reassess the schools importance in preparing our students for the future. First Colony Middle School is committed to fostering academic excellence while developing the individual strengths and talents of our students, faculty, staff, and community. By addressing the unique needs of early adolescents a supportive and caring environment, we will develop independent, thinking citizens of character. The rigorous curriculum at First Colony reflects the goals and target areas of importance identified in our mission statement. We offer a broad range of elective courses reflecting the interest and needs of our students.
