Welcome to FOURTH GRADE

The fourth grade is catching the wave of the future!
It is amazing how fast the first nine weeks of school has flown by. We have enjoyed getting to know one another.
In ELA, we started out the year setting up Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop. Also, the Developmental Reading Assessment was given and reading levels were established for each student.
Place value, decimals, rounding, addition, & subtraction, along with problem solving, were the focus in Math this first nine weeks.
In Social Studies, the students learned where in the world they live, and the regions of Texas. The students also enjoyed learning about the Native Americans of Texas.
In Science, the students learned about science safety. Then we invited African Dwarf Frogs into our classrooms and learned about the frog’s habitat.
Besides all the academic endeavors, student council representatives were elected, and we all enjoyed getting to use our new document cameras. Thank you, PTA!
We are looking forward to a fantastic next nine weeks as we make it a great year here at Commonwealth Elementary.
