The role of the Instructional Technology Specialist, Mrs. Dickson, has changed a bit from years past. Although she is often described as the computer teacher, her main role is to offer staff development to teachers and staff for the benefit of integrating technology into classroom curriculum. Our project based lab is used to help integrate these lessons for the entire class.
 
The computer lab houses 28 XP Compac computers, a scanner, a laser color network printer along with a Smartboard-an interactive white board.
Our WONDERFUL PTA purchased a Smartboard, cart and projector for each Kinder-5th grade classroom!!! They were also very generous in providing two electronic response systems called Senteo. These Senteos "gain accurate and immediate insight into student learning that seamlessly integrates with SMART Notebook software". AND this year PTA gave each teacher an Elmo which is an electronic data projector!!!
We are very thankful to our PTA for its continued support of technology at Commonwealth Elementary.
