As an Educational Diagnostician in Fort Bend ISD I am a member of the school’s multidisciplinary team that utilizes their particular skills and areas of expertise to make the best decisions for students with disabilities. It is the Educational Diagnostician’s role to work collaboratively with other assessment personnel, such as speech/language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and school psychologists, counselors, and social workers to determine eligibility for special education services. In addition, an Educational Diagnostician provides input to the IEP committee regarding student's academic strengths and weaknesses based on psycho-educational testing; interprets results of psycho-educational testing in relation to student's educational placement and programming to parents, teachers, administrators, and students; and provides ongoing consultative services to school, community, and parents regarding student's educational needs.
I attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio where I earned a degree in Accounting. After graduating, I worked as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Cleveland, Ohio for 2 years. After leaving the business world and moving to Texas, I obtained my teaching certification through Region IV. I taught special education in Fort Bend ISD for 4 years and earned a Masters Degree from the University of Houston as well as my professional license as a Licensed Educational Diagnostician for the state of Texas. This is my 3rd year at Commonwealth Elementary and I am happy to be back!
