Welcome to Speech/Theatre Arts
Introduction to Speech and Theatre Arts: Students are introduced to a variety of speaking situations and basic understanding of the Theatre. Students give informative and demonstrative speeches, tell stories, conduct interviews, produce pantomimes, study oral interpretation, present monologues and duet acting scenes, and participate in stage productions. Speech and Theatre Arts: Students are introduced to a variety of public speaking situations and engage in activities of theatre performance—both as actors and technicians. Students will be involved in story telling, debate, oral interpretation, duet acting, and monologues. Students will be taught expressive use of the body and voice as it relates to stage production and will have the opportunity to participate in speech competitions, one act plays, Reader’s Theatre, and experiment with puppetry. Theatre Arts: (Prerequisite: Speech I and/or teacher approval) Students engage in activities which develop expressive use of the body and voice, acting concepts and skills, skills in puppetry, Reader’s Theater and play production, and appreciation of the theater as an art form.
