Welcome to English I PreAP

English I -- Students enrolled in English I continue to enhance and refine their communication skills. They write in a variety of forms, primarily persuasion and description, where an emphasis is placed on the development of theses, organization, and elaboration of logical arguments. Students are expected to edit their papers for clarity, engaging language, and the correct use of the conventions and mechanics of written English -- producing error-free final drafts. Additionally, students read extensively in multiple genres from world literature and learn literary terms associated with the selections being read. Pre-AP classes emphasize advanced reading, analytical reasoning skills, and expository writing in preparation for the Advanced Placement exams in language and literature given during the junior and senior years.
