Welcome to 4th grade at Colony Bend Elementary. Our goal as 4th grade teachers is to establish the best total learning environment so that each child will leave us at the end of this school year with the required skills in all subjects, good study skills, proper social skills, and a positive self-image.
We strive to meet the requirements of our state curriculum, TEKS. Fourth grade is when the students do the first state writing assessment for the TAKS test. Much of our academic year is spent in preparing our students for this test that occurs at the beginning of March. We WRITE! WRITE! And WRITE!!
We also take the TAKS reading and math tests in April.
Please encourage your children to read daily outside of school. Their reading skills and vocabulary will improve, and this improvement will become apparent in their other subjects.
We use planners as a way to encourage our students to become independent responsible learners. They are also our way of communicating daily between school and home. Please initial and look at your child's planner nightly.
