Welcome back to another exciting year of learning and physical education. My name is Allison Dasher, this is my fifth year at Colony Bend and I am looking forward to another wonderful year. My goal at Colony Bend is to have all students excited about physical fitness. In the beginning of the year, I always try to focus on building teamwork and good sportsmanship among the students in each class. We start the year with activities which require the students to work together. As the year progresses we will move on to movement/skill activites with an emphasis on healthy eating and healthy bodies. In February, grades third, fourth and fifth will begin Fitnessgram testing. This statewide test covers the five health related fitness components. However, we only test on cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance and flexibility. Coming Soon - The American Diabetes Association School Walk. Our Annual Turkey Trot is scheduled for Friday, November 20 at 1:45. I would like to encourage all students to continue staying active at home as well as school and eating healthy by remembering to make smart healthy food choices. Biography: I was born and raised here in the Houston area. I received my Bachelors of Science at Texas A&M in College Station. My degree is in Kinesiology, with a specialization in sport management. After graduating in 2000, I went to work for the Houston Astros Baseball organization. I worked for the Astros for three years and decided I wanted to work with young children. Therefore, I went back to school in order to receive my teaching certification. I am certified in PE K-12 (all levels) as well as early childhood through fourth grade. I am very excited to be teaching here at Colony Bend. The kids here at CBE are wonderful, and the parents have been very supportive and helpful.
