Description

We are proud of our Special Education services at Barrington Place. The individual expertise of the Resource teachers and paraprofessionals and the wealth of materials to which we have access make our center one of Fort Bend ISD's best resource services.

In Resource, we concentrate primarily on improving skills in reading, math, and language arts. Some programs used in reading include Neuhaus Basic Language Basic Language Skills, Saxon Phonics, Reading Milestones, Steck Vaughn Fluency program, and SRA. In math, we use Saxon, Every Day Counts, and a variety of other materials, methods, games, and learning strategies. We tailor each child's program individually according to the IEP and ongoing evaluation. At the same time we group by ability to ensure as much interaction with the teacher as possible.

Content Mastery is a program which enables students to work in a quiet environment and receive help with work from their regular classroom. A staff member is always available to help those who need it.

Some students receive direct support in the regular classroom from Special Ed. staff members. Although the purpose of direct support is to help students receiving Special Ed. services, any student in the classroom can take advantage of this support.

Our mission is to make sure our students are learning every minute that they are in Resource Class. We begin where they are, build on those skills every day, and watch their confidence grow!
