The role of the Reading Specialist in Fort Bend ISD is to promote literacy opportunities for students, teachers, and parents in a way that emphasizes appropriate instruction which targets students who have difficulty reading, writing and spelling. Attention is especially focused on 504 Dyslexic students and struggling readers. Our goal is that ALL students will be life-long successful readers. Hello, my name is Michele Croft. This is my eighteenth year to teach. I am excited to be the Reading Specialist here at Barrington Place Elementary. In 2008, I was honored by the Barrington Place Elementary staff and chosen as Teacher of the Year. I am excited for another wonderful year. To enhance your child’s education and my own; I believe in attending in-services, trainings as well as continuing my own education. I have completed my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in reading. Additionally, I believe that schools, parents and communities need to be in a partnership when educating children. “A student’s success in school starts in the heads and hearts of his or her parents and teachers. The way we see them, the way they see themselves is will they will become” -Linda Holt My conference time is from 2:10 - 3:00 Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. You can reach me at (281) 634 - 1787 or by email at michele.croft@fortbend.k12.tx.us.
