Welcome to Fifth Grade

Time for a new year and a renewed focus on knowledge and skills for the future!
In math we are working on ratios and percentages.
In science we will be studying energy.
In reading, we will focus on the skills of efficiently gathering information from nonfiction, and understanding the themes of fiction. We continue to work on reading fluently and accurately.
In social studies we are studying the colonies and will move on to the American Revolution.
In ELA, we will write comparison and persuasion papers, as well as studying spelling and reviewing grammar skills.
In all topics, we strive for a mix of independent and group work, differentiated for all types of learners.
