The role of the Reading Specialist in Fort Bend ISD is to promote literacy opportunities for students, teachers, and parents in a way that emphasizes appropriate instruction which targets students who have difficulty reading, writing, and spelling, especially 504 dyslexic students and struggling readers. Our goal is that ALL students will be successful life-long learners. The Reading Specialist also assists teachers with instructional resources and models appropriate literacy strategies in the classroom.
 
This is my sixth year as Austin Parkway’s Reading Specialist. Previously, I taught language arts in Katy ISD and math in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. I have a husband, Chris, and two daughters, Brittany (12 yrs. old) and Rosemary (6 yrs. old). I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. I also have a Masters degree in counseling.
