Welcome to 2nd Grade

Welcome to Second Grade! We are all very excited to have your children in our classrooms! Our first nine weeks are going to be busy! Here is an overview of what your students will be learning:
We are going to receive our first Science Kit in October, and it’s all about weather! Second Graders will learn about different clouds, rain, temperature, and the water cycle. Be sure to ask our future meteorologists what they have been learning!
In Math, we are memorizing our math facts to 18. This is for addition and subtraction. A great and fun way to practice at home is to make flash cards! We are also graphing and comparing numbers.
In Social Studies, we are learning that we are ALL citizens in our community and the United States.
We ask that you read with your child every night. This will help your child in their daily work at school, and you will know your child’s reading strengths and weaknesses.
 
Our lunch and recess schedule is as follows:
Lunch Schedule: 11:15-11:45
Recess Schedule: 11:45-12:15
 
Please help us by doing the following:
-Reading and checking folders daily.
-Signing Tuesday Folders on Tuesday night.
-Signing any important documents in a timely manner.
-Signing your child’s planner daily.
-Help, but do not complete your child’s homework.
