The role of the Math Specialist is to aid the teachers in planning exciting lessons that will engage each child and help them gain a better understanding of math. The Math Specialist also attends district meetings to bring the lastest information about teaching math and how best to accomodate students with different learning styles.
My name is Aimee Racca and I am the Math Specialist for Arizona Fleming Elementary. I am so happy to be at this campus. This year we have started an new math program in all grade levels Kindergarten - Fifth grade. I will train the teachers to use this program and will provide continued support throughout the year.
I will also have a Math Lab where students will come in with their teachers and do exciting math activities. This will enrich each childs learning and give a them a different perspective for them to experience.
My goal is to lay a strong foundation in math for the primary grades so the upper grades will have a better grasp of more challenging math concepts.
