Greetings, We are quickly approaching August 23---the first day of school! YEA! There are many things that are happening here at school - parents are enrolling students, teachers are preparing classrooms, and we are getting ready for a week of in-services for our staff, Aug. 16-20. Our enrollment has passed 1000, and we are thrilled to greet our many new students and families, along with familiar faces, at Kinder Camp, August 17, from 4:00-5:00, and at Meet and Greet, August 19, from 4:00-6:00. Everyone is welcome! Our kindergarten letters went out today, and all others will go out by Friday. Remember that with being here in Sienna Plantation, a vibrant, growing community, comes the knowledge that we might have to add classes as the year progresses. Of course, that means that students will have to be moved from existing classrooms to form the new classrooms. Most of our grade levels have full classes. We will continue to monitor and keep you informed. The cafeteria director has told me that you may come up to SOES on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday of the August 16 week, to put money in your children's accounts, from 8:00-1:30 each day. If you see our faculty in the cafeteria, just tiptoe past us - 'no problem. Our marquee is definitely a work in progress; we are hoping that once everything gets up and running, it will be a great way to communicate with our community. Hats off to our PTO publicity chairman, Aysha Green, for tackling that job for us! There are many things happening here at Scanlan Oaks, a TEA exemplary school! We are Celebrating our Successes and hoping to be Celebrating our Students' Dreams this school year. We are working diligently to make this another wonderful school year. Go Express! Pam Browning
