Fort Bend ISD Student Leadership Program

Deadline for student application submission was October 7, 2009.

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the start of the FBISD 2009-10 Student Leadership Program. Interested currently enrolled students who have earned junior status as of August 24, 2009, are eligible to apply. The leadership program will engage students in a series of six full-day, monthly seminars during the school year that will help them explore their personal roles in community leadership and service.  Students and their parents should carefully review the application and program commitments. The application deadline is 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009.  As there is no grace period for late applications, it is very important to download the application as soon as possible to allow time to complete it.

The idea to create the program originated from FBISD Board Members, who wanted to become more involved with students. Board Members will sponsor and attend the student seminars on topics such as personal leadership skills, youth advocacy, service and volunteerism, local government in action, environmental awareness, and healthcare.

The group will meet once each month starting November and continue through April 2010. In May, the program will close with a special day-long retreat followed by a recognition ceremony for participants at the Board’s Business Meeting on Monday, May 24, 2010.
