Dr. Kwabena Mensah, Chief of Schools
Dr. Kwabena Mensah serves as the Chief of Schools and leads the Department of School Leadership.
Dr. Mensah has served as an administrator at all levels in Austin ISD, Aldine ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Spring ISD, and Katy ISD. He most recently served as the Fort Bend ISD Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools. While serving as an elementary principal in Katy ISD, Dr. Mensah was honored as Katy ISD Principal of the Year, TABSE Principal of the Year, and TEPSA National Distinguished Principal Finalist.
Dr. Mensah has robust experiences turning around schools, maintaining high expectations for student achievement, and cultivating rich campus cultures. He is invested in developing future leaders and serves as the Immediate Past President for the Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE).
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from Rice University, his Master of Education from The University of Texas at Austin, and received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.
